Market Associate

Appalachian DiviniTEA is a small-batch organic tea and herbal wellness business rooted in Asheville, NC. We believe in the power of plants and creating meaningful connections with the people in our community. Our Market Associates are the friendly face of Appalachian DiviniTEA at farmers markets, festivals, and other local events. If you love talking with people, share a passion for plants, and spending your Saturdays with the community, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Do…
  – Represent Appalachian DiviniTEA at farmers markets, festivals, and other local events. 
– Set up and break down our market booth, including canopy, weights, tables, displays, products, and sampling supplies.
– Engage with customers, market staff, fellow makers, and attendees in a genuine, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
– Share our organic teas, tinctures, and canned beverages through sampling and conversation.
– Help customers find products that fit their interests and needs.
– Process sales using our Square POS card reader logged in on your own cellular device, handle cash transactions accurately, and document each sale on an inventory sheet.
– Keep the booth clean, organized, inviting, and well-stocked throughout the event.
– Learn about our products, ingredients, and approach so you can confidently share that knowledge with customers.
– Create a positive, welcoming market experience for all.

We’re Looking For Someone Who…
– Is friendly, outgoing, dependable, and comfortable talking with all kinds of people.
– Has an interest in tea, herbal wellness, plants, natural products, or holistic living.
– Enjoys public events and connecting with a local community.
– Can work independently after training is complete.
– Has reliable transportation to and from market events and restocking, and is able to transport our market setup in their own vehicle. 
– Is comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
– Can safely lift approximately 30 lbs and stand for 3 hours+.
– Has Saturday availability and flexibility for occasional additional market events.
– Has previous retail, farmers market, food service, or customer service experience (a plus, but not required).

Hours & Compensation…
  – 5-12+ hours per week, depending on the event schedule.
– Saturday availability required, with occasional weekday, Friday or Sunday events.
– $20/hour, you are paid for approximately one hour before and one hour after each market for setup/breakdown and drive time. 
– Flex rate with commission opportunities based on market sales for longer festival hours.
– One complimentary Appalachian DiviniTEA product per market shift.
– Team member product discount.
– Opportunities for additional hours and responsibilities as our company grows.
